Our sales representative: Jeff Hladio

 
If life is a journey, then Jeff Hladio is truly an experienced traveler. Like many young
professionals, Jeff spent his education and early career searching for a fulfilling business opportunity that would allow him to reach his personal goals and contribute to the happiness of others. This search is not out of the ordinary.

But for Jeff, the journey has been extraordinary because of the obstacles he has overcome.

Born three months premature, weighing less than two pounds, Jeff’s journey began as a fight for survival. After 3 months in intensive care, he accomplished more than doctors and nurses could have imagined simply by leaving the hospital in his mother’s arms.

Jeff’s early battle for survival developed into an ongoing struggle with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy. At The Day School at The Children’s Institute in Pittsburgh, Jeff learned the patience, perseverance, and drive that helped him overcome his disability and become a successful student.

“I learned that you cannot expect people to feel sorry for you just because you are different. I have to be my own best advocate and meet the challenges of a difficult world.”

He graduated with honors in 2002.

That same year, the National Association of Vocational Education Special Needs Personnel honored Jeff with its Outstanding Student Award. He was also the recipient of the Life Work Challenge Award from the Pennsylvania Association of Vocational Education Special Needs Personnel. Both awards recognize students who have overcome barriers in realizing their life and work potential. Jeff continues to meet his own high expectations as our sales representative.
